Opportunities
We offer up to 16 places on our Summer Vacation Scheme which takes place throughout June - July.
A week at Marriott Harrison will provide you with real life experience and insight into what being a lawyer here would be like. Our summer vacation scheme has been designed to pack as much into a week as possible. We provide structure to the week but deliberately set aside a good amount of time for you to get to know our people and culture. One of our differences is that we let you take ownership over which areas you want exposure to. We do not assign you to any specific team as we want you to seek out work from specialist areas that interest you most.
Throughout the week, you will have the opportunity to meet most of our team as we have an open-plan office set on one floor and a hot desk system. You will quickly figure out that we operate with a flat structure and hierarchy in mind, with all roles and levels being valued. On day one you will be buddied up with one of our trainees who will be your ‘go-to’ person for the week. We strongly encourage all our summer students to ask as many questions as possible about what being a trainee at Marriott Harrison is all about.
From an ‘Ask me Anything’ session with Daniel Jacob, our Managing Partner, to interacting with and getting work across all teams and levels from Trainees through to Equity Partners, our scheme will provide you with valuable work experience and an opportunity to get to know us and what we are all about. It is also our chance to get to know you, how you operate and whether being a trainee solicitor here would be right for you. After the scheme has ended, we will invite a select few back for an interview for a trainee contract.
At present, we recruit all our trainees from participants in our Summer Vacation Scheme.
Space to succeed
What we offer
We see your training with us as the first step in a successful long-term career with us. We invest in you from day one and set you up for success by supporting and developing you into a successful lawyer.
We are proud of the experience our trainees get throughout their two-year training contract. Our trainees work across four different areas of specialist legal expertise through their four-seat rotation, selected from corporate (venture capital and M&A), dispute resolution, employment, commercial (contracts, data protection and intellectual property), real estate, finance and business restructuring. Whichever seat you are in, you will be guaranteed excellent and varied work, increasing in complexity as you progress throughout your training contract.
One of the features of Marriott Harrison that sets us apart is that you will encounter a genuinely friendly group of people who want you to succeed. Our partners, associates and wider team are approachable, encouraging, and giving of their time. They will offer their perspective and guide you in your career and development. You will benefit from direct engagement and feedback from partners who will provide ample development opportunities for you and will support you throughout your seat. You will also be a part of our Trainee L&D Programme, where you will deepen your knowledge of our specialist areas over the course of your two years with us.
The high-quality interesting work that our trainees get directly involved in, whilst learning from colleagues who are experts in their fields and the great connections they make, are all experiences that endure and shape careers. We know that it is only if all our team reach their potential, that we as a firm will too.
